Westland After School Program – Powered by 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC)
We’re excited to share that Westland Charter School has been awarded the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant—a major investment in enriching our students’ learning beyond the classroom!
Our FREE after school program runs Monday through Friday from 2:30–5:00 PM on regular school days and is open to all enrolled students.
The 21st CCLC grant will enhance our program by offering:
- Additional homework help and tutoring
- Academic enrichment in subjects like STEM, reading, and math
- Hands-on clubs and well-rounded classes, including gardening, art, fitness, and more
Why After School Matters
Out-of-school time programs like Westland’s provide more than just supervision—they help students grow. Research shows that consistent participation in high-quality after school programs can:
- Improve academic performance
- Increase school attendance and engagement
- Build social-emotional skills
- Reduce risky behaviors
- Give students a safe, structured place to learn and connect with peers
For families, after school programs offer the peace of mind that comes from knowing your child is in a safe, supportive environment that extends their learning day in meaningful ways.
We are proud to partner with our families and community to offer these valuable opportunities. Let us know if you have any questions—we’re happy to help!
