Title 1
Westland Charter School – Title I & Title IV Programs
Westland Charter School is proud to be a Title I Schoolwide Program. Title I funding is used to provide academic support and enrichment opportunities for all students, helping ensure every child meets high academic standards.
In a Schoolwide Title I program, resources are used to:
- Strengthen core academic programs
- Provide additional support for struggling learners
- Offer professional development for teachers
- Extend learning through tutoring and intervention
- Foster a supportive and inclusive school environment
An essential part of Title I is family engagement. We encourage parents and guardians to participate in school events, family learning nights, and planning meetings. Research shows that students perform better when families are actively involved in their education.
In addition, Westland qualifies for support through the Title IV, Part A – Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grant. This program helps us provide a well-rounded education by:
- Expanding access to music, art, and STEM opportunities
- Supporting safe and healthy school environments
- Enhancing the effective use of technology in classrooms
Together, Title I and Title IV programs support both academic growth and the development of the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally.
