Westland School is Title I school. Title I programs provide academic and enrichment opportunities to students. Another important aspect is the inclusion of parents and family engagement activities with the goal of improving the academic achievement of students.
What is Title I?
Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA), provides financial assistance to schools to meet the needs of educationally at-risk students. The goal of Title I is to provide extra instructional services and activities which support students identified as failing or most at risk of failing the state’s challenging performance standards in reading and mathematics.
What does Title I offer?

- Additional Teachers and Para Educators
- Professional Development Opportunities for staff
- Extra time for teaching students skills they need (Tutorials, Summer School)
